If so, will this improve the reliability of the xbox?

Do you think some of the major kinks(mainly hardware kinks) will be worked out by 08?

  1. Hopefully it will. The issue is with componants on the motherboard actually warping and kinda melting. Now did they warp do to the heat build up inside the console itself or because of their lack of ablity to handle the amount of current running through them? Who knows.

Either way if microsoft comes out with yet another version of xbox 360, which will make 3 ( 360, elite, and 65nm), that will make three systems in as many years and if they haven’t fix the problem then they need to stick to software developement and get out of the hardware business.

  2. The new processor will run cooler, which will help with the overheating problem. In addition, Microsoft has put an improved heatsink into the 360.

These should hopefully eliminate the overheating issues that the earlier 360s have.

I don’t know how you can determine if a given 360 on the shelf has the newer processor and heatsink or not. I’m sure this information will appear on the web as interested folks dissect their 360, photograph its innards, and post to their blogs.
