How do I convince my parents to let me get a PS3?

I would be using MY OWN money. I sold my wii which was my only chirstmas present a few years ago and found a good deal on craigslist for a PS3 (275$ for the console + 2 games)

I already have a 360 so they say I dont need another. My Dad dooenst seem to care much about the built in blu-ray (but maybe i can change that).

Any suggestions? Thanks!

  1. I own a Wii a 360 and a PS3 and honestly, you shouldn’t have sold the Wii, its a great little thing. Now The PS3 doesn’t have that many advantages over the 360, they have simpler games, simpler graphics. Its up to personal choice. Now buying one off Craiglist doesn’t seam

like the best idea, make sure its validated and it good condition. Now the Blu-Ray is good but the movies are double the price, and i can see the difference in quality but i honestly don’t really care.

Follow what you want (Just so you know the PS3 comes with a standard SD cable as default so make sure you get a HDMI cable or HD cable)

  2. firstly assure them you are using your own money for EVERYTHING! then do some research and find out ALL the features, DVD is getting old and will probably be phased out, then continue your reasoning.

.also you could get rid of your crapbox 360!

  3. From the sound of it I would say that the only way would be to sell your box, which you should do. Then you have no systems and then they can not use the you have to many systems thing. The blue ray thing probable will not impress your dad, because one you will be playing on it all the time , two he is probable like, Whats blu ray, I got a bunch of video tapes, will these work. Just sell your box (sounds bad) and you will have enough money to buy a brand new one with a warrenty, showing responsibility and that you have prioroities. Also that are willing to part with something , should show them your maturity to. Can’t have your PS3 and play it too.

  4. Trust me I know alot about technology and the consoles, PS3 is only fun when someone gives you one. If you buy one about three months later you’ll be asking yourself why’d you buy it and try razionalizing it to anybody that says it’s a bad console.

  5. When my roommate moved out and took his ps3 with him, i bought one a week later. Couldn’t live without it. My dad also bought one, as we both enjoy them on our hdtv’s. Just tell your old man that there are exclusive games that you want to play and you could not get them for 360. Some examples are.

    Killzone 2

    God of War III

    Uncharted 2

    White Knight Chronicles

Mlb 09: The Show (My personal favorite)

    Final Fantasy Versus XIII

    Twisted Metal

You can also tell him online play is free, so you won’t have to pay another subscription like 360

  6. If you already own a Xbox 360, what are your intentions in getting a PS3?

If you care about the Blu-ray movie capabilites, tell your dad, that the PS3 is the best Blu-ray movie player in this price segment.

If he needs to be convinced of the high resolution of movies, play a few HD movies on the Xbox 360 (but then again, he might argue, that you can already watch movies in HD on the Xbox).
But other than the movie playing capabilities, there really is no point in getting a PS3 (I know what I’m talking about, since I have the Wii, the Xbox 360 *and* the PS3 at home).

With the sole exception of playing Blu-ray movies, there is nothing the PS3 can do better than the Xbox 360.

You can’t replace any games music with your own MP3s on the PS3.

You won’t be able to *talk* to your friends across games like on the Xbox 360.

Game updates on the PS3 take several minutes up to hours instead of several Seconds on the Xbox 360.

Most games are released on both systems anyways, and often run and look better on the Xbox 360 (for example GTA IV plays in a higher resolution on the Xbox 360 than on the PS3).

So, really, what is your reason to get a PS3?

Then we can really help you to convince your parents.
