I have a first generation Xbox 360, do they make an HDMI cable for it or do I have to use a PC cable?

  1. An HDMI cable can only be used with newer consoles such as the Elite. You can use either component or DVI cable to achieve true high definition in 1080p with older consoles. By the way, HDMI only increases colour, depth, and sound, not resolution.

    Good Luck 🙂

  2. There is a third party HDMI adapter cable for first generation Xbox 360s without HDMI ports. (first link below). it costs $79.95. the package includes a DVI adapter as well. The second link is a video showing the cable in action.

As for your second question. The VGA cable won’t work with a DVI adapter so you are out of luck there.

    Good luck.

  3. The only thing you can do is get the vga cable or use component, you can not use dvi with older console that do not have hdmi port as dvi like hdmi is digital and backwards compatible so dvi to hdmi will only work with a 360 that has hdmi out.

If you do not own a 1080p tv then you won’t need hdmi, if you have 1080i or 720p then component or vga will do just fine, if you have a 1080p set and want 1080p component can do 1080p but your tv might not accept that resolution through component, so vga is the best and only option for 1080p/1920×1080 for older 360 owners.

Also all new xbox 360’s come with hdmi out not just the elite, but the halo, arcade and new premiums as well.
